Orange County Recognized at the Vermont Farm Bureau Annual Meeting in November 2008

Orange County Sam Lincoln accepted The Packard Award from Vermont Farm Bureau President Jackie Folsom

The Packard award is given for the best County annual meeting of the year. This year the meeting was in Bradford.  The tables were set for fifty five places;  there was plenty of food,  but even more, there were plenty of candidates. Gubenatorial candidate Anthony Pollina was in attendance, as well as folks running for most of the county’s House and Senate seats.  President Lincoln kept the meeting on time after setting out the rules, which allowed  two minutes of talking time for each candidate. Having covered the agenda in a timely manner,  they saved the best for last: a huge variety of door prizes donated by Orange County businesses.

Wallace Award goes to Ray Rogers of Chelsea

Ray Rogers former Treasurer of Orange County received the Wallace Award named for Farm Bureau’s President Keith Wallace. This award is given annually to a Farm Bureau member who has demonstrated outstanding service to Vermont agriculture with the character and integrity that were a hallmark of Keith Wallace’s life.

Ray recently retired from his position as treasurer of Orange County, a job he held for twenty-five years. He has been a member for (in his words) “half a century plus ten.” He has influenced many people in that time through his diverse interests and wide ranging career. Although Ray was not present to accept his award, the Orange County Farm Bureau made the presentation at their first board meeting in December.
